Orange Coin Good El Salvador ~ Pais#1

THE FIRST IN A SERIES HONORING COUNTRIES THAT ADOPT BITCOIN

This is an historical work, marking the event Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador. It features El Salvador’s national bird, Toroguz, and its national tree, the Maquilishuat. When the female on the upper branch glances down at the male’s tail to determine his fitness to be her mate, her gaze is caught by the brilliance of the bitcoin in his beak. He is sure to win her affections, as he has both the tail, and the coin!
Mosaic Construction: Each piece of glass is cut by the artist using a variety of tools. The thinset and grout used in this piece are premium grade, manufactured for underwater applications. Substrate is moisture-proof cement and fiberglass coated foam. Steel reinforced. Hanging hardware is installed through the substrate and beneath the mosaic itself, bearing the full weight of the piece. 36″ x 48″/weighs 35 lbs.

I Stumbled Upon a Spring for Drinking!

I Stumbled Upon a Spring for Drinking!

If you’ve ever watched or read David Wolfe, you know how good live spring water is for your body. I actually did my own test once, freezing ice cubes from RO water bought at the Glacier machine vs hand-collected spring water. Once the ice cubes were frozen I opened my freezer door to see that the..

My Charmed Life Found Me – Finally!

I happened upon this dispersed campsite after I decided that I now live a “charmed life”.
(Yes, it was a decision – less angst and more flow.) I never could have imagined I would find a site this stunning, and it offers me the solitude I’ve wanted along with a few surprisingly..

How to Make the Ultimate Coffee – On or Off the Grid

A few months ago, someone posted a request on one of my group Facebook pages:

“How do you make the best camp coffee?” At the time, I had not learned of this technique, taught by Mellow Traveler.

For decades, Mellow Traveler wracked his brain for a better way to brew..

Meadow Hot Spring: “The Girls” See Some Sun!

Meadow Hot Springs is on an expansive private acreage about two hours south of Salt Lake City. Its owner allows people to soak and accepts donations from those who wish to show their appreciation. Now that it’s been seen on various blogs, the springs are still wonderful but sometimes trashed by..

Dirtbag in the Driveway

Dirtbag in the Driveway

Note: In case you’ve never hung out with a rock climber, the term, “Dirtbag” is an affectionate term for one who lives in his or her car. Climbing magazine ran a hilarious glossary of terms that parce out dirtbags of all types. According to their definition, I would be considered..

LAUNCH DAY – Into the Desert!

Well, I’m finally out! Launch day, night, and next morning have been spectacular.
On the way to visit Princess Shiatsu, I took a detour into the Utah desert. Drove several hours through some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen – and gained a new appreciation for this habitat I’ve..

DAY 2: 10 Day De-puff Challenge

How are you feeling now? If you’re hungry I have a few tricks you can try. Your body is most likely yearning for starch, since most people eat it day in and day out. In fact, I’d venture to guess that more people are addicted to starch than any other substance—even tobacco and heroin! Rather..

10 Day De-puff Challenge

10 Day De-puff Challenge

I woke up today clearly ready to get back on my “program”. The move three days ago (from one storage shed into another – all of my remaining possessions gathered over 63 years) messed up my sacroiliac joint, hip socket, ribs, middle back, and neck. Luckily I have a great chiropractor,..

When Quiet is Too Quiet

When Quiet is Too Quiet

Recently I accepted an invitation to help a friend insulate his cabin, which was situated on 35 acres of wooded property in southern Colorado. At first sight, the land was beautiful and I looked forward to taking breaks from the work to hike around, drink camp coffee, listen to the birds and enjoy..
