Orange Coin Good El Salvador ~ Pais#1

THE FIRST IN A SERIES HONORING COUNTRIES THAT ADOPT BITCOIN

This is an historical work, marking the event Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador. It features El Salvador’s national bird, Toroguz, and its national tree, the Maquilishuat. When the female on the upper branch glances down at the male’s tail to determine his fitness to be her mate, her gaze is caught by the brilliance of the bitcoin in his beak. He is sure to win her affections, as he has both the tail, and the coin!
Mosaic Construction: Each piece of glass is cut by the artist using a variety of tools. The thinset and grout used in this piece are premium grade, manufactured for underwater applications. Substrate is moisture-proof cement and fiberglass coated foam. Steel reinforced. Hanging hardware is installed through the substrate and beneath the mosaic itself, bearing the full weight of the piece. 36″ x 48″/weighs 35 lbs.

A New Mosaic: The Lovely Mariposa Lily

Calochortus Gunnisonii

I ran across this lovely  little “butterfly lily”  in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, one of my regular hiking haunts. When I researched it, I found conflicting information on how many species of this lily exist.  There are thousands, but this particular..

Lighten Up and Play!
Playful-Vclip-crunched

I’d been thinking lately about bringing more lighthearted play into my life and into my work. I always intend good vibes go into each piece, but this time I really focused on playfulness. I had recently had a really good time at a regge..

And NOW…The Mating Dance in Glass!

And NOW…The Mating Dance in Glass!

It’s May 24th, and I want you to know that your “Holiday Cheer” blog with the sketch of the mating American Avocet dance DID become a mosaic and it’s just finished!  I just love the affection they show each other and ended up making them in stained glass.

The avocets..

Holiday Cheer!

Happy Holidays! Just a little bit of love I’m sending your way. These sketches are studies of a pair of American Avocets doing their mating dance! What better image…crossing beaks, male’s wing around her shoulders, both splash-stepping in the shallow water. This image feels very sweet to me.

First, I want to explain the sudden change from the blog many of you subscribed to during my off-the-grid trip in 2018—to Wednesday’s blatently sale-focused email from Constant Contact, to wit:

I have been sending out occasional blogs since 2018 but did not realize you never got them. That..

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and I want to wish you all the love, kindness, peace and comfort you are ready to receive. Line up with it,..
