This is an historical work, marking the event Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador. It features El Salvador’s national bird, Toroguz, and its national tree, the Maquilishuat. When the female on the upper branch glances down at the male’s tail to determine his fitness to be her mate, her gaze is caught by the brilliance of the bitcoin in his beak. He is sure to win her affections, as he has both the tail, and the coin! A BITCOIN-ONLY SALE. Offered for 1BTC. Original glass mosaic 20% off until December 25th!

Mosaic Construction: Each piece of glass is cut by the artist using a variety of tools. The thinset and grout used in this piece are premium grade, manufactured for underwater applications. Substrate is moisture-proof cement and fiberglass coated foam. Steel reinforced. Hanging hardware is installed through the substrate and beneath the mosaic itself, bearing the full weight of the piece.

An AUM for Molly

AUM: The primordial sound of the Universe, Ultimate Reality. Eight-Petaled Lotus: In Buddhism, the Noble Eight-fold Path to mental purity and spiritual perfection.

The Back Story: Molly, a beautiful young woman wrapped in a hand-woven Tibetan shawl, boarded the O’hare shuttle and sat across the aisle from me. We struck up an conversation–first about our reasons for going to Moline: she, to see her family after months in Tibet and I, to supervise my daughter while her father was away singing an opera somewhere. The conversation, which lasted the entire 4-hour ride, became quite deep The death of my son was still raw in my heart.
Molly was a videographer for Outdoor Magazine and had worked several months in Tibet, after which she studied with her guru awhile. Her story was amazing and helped lift me out of my sagging emotions. When we arrived in Moline, we debarked the shuttle and shared a heartfelt goodbye hug. I hadn’t thought to get her full name.
Once home as I began to unpack my computer case, I was caught by surprise to find a pair of beautiful silver earrings bearing the Aum symbol in Sanskrit. She had slipped the earrings into my unzipped computer case when I wasn’t looking. This mosaic is for Molly.
